The University of Ibadan Distance Learning Centre (UIDLC) is an arm of the University responsible for providing Open and Distance Learning University Education. This mode of education is technology-mediated and provides for minimum physical interaction between the learners and the facilitators. DLC learners are spread across different locations within and outside the country because of the convenience of access which is made available by this mode.

The University of Ibadan DLC School Fees flexibility is being praised all over the world and the UI DLC opens the opportunity for people who may not have the time for full-time university degrees.

We will consider how much students in various departments are supposed to pay and highlight if there are additional fees required.

The University of Ibadan Part Time Programme is available now at Distance Learning Center (DLC) ;

The Origin of the programme can be traced to 1972, when the Department of Adult Education  proposed the programme to the University. This proposal was eventually presented to the senate of the University in 1976.

Open and Distance Education (ODE) is undeniably the solution to access in the contemporary crave and pursuit of university education. Undoubtedly, the platform was established with the working class in mind. However, the reality of inadequate space to accommodate prospective candidates on the conventional mode has been a major challenge in the tertiary education sector. For this reason, many fresh school leavers are now subscribing to the Open Distance Learning (ODL) mode of educational delivery which the University of Ibadan Distance Learning Centre (UIDLC) represents.

To spur more candidates to come on board the ODL platform, the UIDLC Management has magnanimously enacted a policy which absorbs Unibadan post-UTME candidates who are unable to secure admissions on the regular mode of the university. The policy explicitly states that this category of candidates would be exempted from obtaining fresh applications to UIDLC if they opt to switch to the ODL alternative.
However, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) issue has been a recurrent concern especially when young prospective candidates consider the ODL mode.

The NYSC is a scheme which graduates desire to experience. This is one of the reasons why young admission seekers try out their luck every year to gain admission through the regular mode. Unfortunately, frustration sets in after many failed attempts.

After series of consultations and extensive deliberations at relevant quarters by the UIDLC Management, the National Universties Commission (NUC) has approved that graduates on the UIDLC mode be mobilized for NYSC or issued exclusion certificates, as the case may be. This approval covers the fifteen undergraduate programmes being run on the UIDLC platform. These include: B.A. English; B.A. Philosophy and Public Affairs; B.A. History & Diplomatic Studies; B.A. Communication & Language Art; B.Sc. Psychology; B.Sc. Economics; B.Sc. Political Science; B.Sc. Sociology; BSW. Social Work; BLIS. Library, Archival & Information Studies; B.Ed. Guidance & Counseling; B.Ed. Adult Education; B.Ed. Educational Management; B.Sc. Computer Science and B.Sc. Statistics.

The Centre has commenced procedures of capturing its learners on the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) platform in order to mobilize them for NYSC. Learners who graduate before age thirty can now heave a sigh of relief; NYSC mobilization is now a reality.

Note: I don’t advise going through the process on your own in order not to make any mistake that will hinder your admission. It’s becos of such mistake I set up registration stand to help everyone register successfully.

The Director of the Centre, Professor Oyesoji Aremu should indeed be commended for leading his management team to achieve this feat. Newly admitted and current learners on the UIDLC platform can now eat their cakes and have it! One huddle after the other, UIDLC keeps sustaining the legacy of providing an educational platform for liberty and development.

Hearty congratulations to the U.I. Vice Chancellor, Professor Abel Idowu Olayinka, the Director, Management, entire staff of the Centre and learners on the ODL mode of the University of Ibadan on this heartwarming development.

Educational planners, administrators, academics, and policy makers now put Open Distance Learning (ODL) into consideration in their activities. This is owing to the growth of distance learning and technology-enhanced learning in contemporary times. However, distance education delivery, particularly the aspect of evaluation which claims equality in the products, when compared with the face to face mode have been under intense attack by academics who are of the opinion that quality is being compromised through the ODL mode of educational delivery. Most ardent believers in the traditional face to face mode erroneously posit that products on the two modes can never be the same, hence the parity of esteem policy by most dual mode universities.

The theme for the 2019 UIDLC International Stakeholders’ Conference is structured to deliberate on how dual mode institutions implement the parity of esteem policy. The question seeks to answer the question of how comparable products of the ODL mode are with their counterparts on the conventional mode when placed on the same scale. These among other issues would be discussed by ODL experts at the three day conference.

From the foregoing, the University of Ibadan Distance Learning Centre calls for conference papers for the 2019 edition of the conference in pursuance and entrenchment of parity of esteem. The conference will hold at the UIDLC Computer-Based Testing Centre, Ajibode Extension, University of Ibadan.

It is good for you to know that University of Ibadan Distance Learning Centre now has fifteen (15) fully NUC validated programmes. The fifteen are made up of newly nine additionally validated programmes by the NUC.
This is only Open Distance Learning Centre in Nigeria with such number of programmes. UIDLC is a leading Open Distance Learning platform in a dual mode university in the country given the fact that the Centre is the benchmark upon which other centres in other universities are rated. It is also heart-warming to note that in terms of facility and number of NUC-validated academic programmes.
The Centre, which clocks 30 years this year, humbly started as the Centre for External Studies because of the need to give educational access to those who, for sundry reasons, are unable to attend the regular programmes of the University. Over the years, the Centre has graduated over ten thousands learners and many of whom are distinguishing themselves in their chosen careers.
